A Family Constellation with Barbara Morgan

A Family Contellations Workshop In Frome with the Masterful Barbara Morgan!

Yesterday I attended a workshop with Barbara Morgan at East Woodlands Village Hall. I had a longing for the sense of awe that comes with the fully felt acknowledgment of our interconnectedness, a living, breathing experience of how we really are not separate from each other.

Sometimes in every day life in our culture I can feel bereft of connection to the warmth of nature, to my sweet and often sour self, to other beautiful struggling souls, to my friends and family, to the bountiful but abused land I live my life on and to my noble and not so noble ancestors.

Our family systems are deeply interconnected but we rarely get to see the depth of these connections.

I work as a family constellations facilitator myself and spend quite a bit of my time practicing or studying this extraordinary work and for me there is nothing better than witnessing a facilitator like Barbara working.

Barbara has an ability to hold a beautiful, compassionate yet often fierce presence, and to make the work of facilitating look easy. By watching the progression of others practicing this work over the years, I witness our development into constellations facilitators and it takes time. Each year of practice builds a stronger foundation which I see as an ability to catch our blind spots, to recognise when we are triggered by our own memories or conditioning but above all to be present in that scary place of really not knowing what to do next. We wait, we say I don’t know what to do, and we wait more. What comes out of this place of space and time is inspiring, often awesome and Barbara is a master!

As a group we dived into the depths of despair, we felt the deadened agony of repressed anger and rage, the discomfort of boredom and unease as energy in the field shifts, closes down, cuts off and makes us all yawn, fall asleep or tremble.

We heard the silence of complete absorption and felt the intensity of total engagement and we felt the relief when a movement comes, becoming able to fully allow our breath once more, to release as connection is restored.

We all feel the relief when what’s been unacknowledged, those forbidden truths, are named. We feel so much easier in our bodies, no longer deathly cold or insanely restless, we move with each other, we notice how we affect each other and the group as a whole - our truth feels better when spoken out. It brings love and connection where before was pain and despair.

It is a magical experience but it is not an easy one. With practice it becomes possible to let the emotions pass through lightly, to witness our bodies as they process feelings and more than this, we begin to live a more embodied existence relating to much richer emotional life every moment, releasing our emotions as they arise, expressing our authentic selves in the moment - allowing things to arise and pass away as they are. Healing as we go.

But this takes practice and working with Barbara, watching, learning and absorbing the information she gives us as we go into this deep place of connection moves us deeper into life. Working slowly we build courage to freely speak our truths. We honour our ancestors and work towards healing ourselves and those who came before us.

Barbara runs a constellation camp every summer at the Unicorn Camp site in Bradford on Avon on August 11th to 15th which I would recommend for a deep dive into the work. I will be there too running a workshop called ”Connecting with the Ancestors.”

For smaller groups and a more intimate workshop join me in Stokescroft Bristol. See the calender under group workshops for the monthly dates.
